The Story of Grete & Rahul

One cold winter night Grete had a very special dream – Pink Elephant was waiting for her by the sacred river. She woke up from her dream and knew, she must find the elephant! But there were no elephants in her homeland Lithuania and all sacred rivers were frozen. “It’s just a dream” everybody said, “just a dream”… Months were passing by, seasons were changing, until one day she got a letter from a faraway land of elephants. She had no doubts – that this was her destination. After long travels, she reached India, the land of elephants. There she saw the pink elephant from her dreams, known as Ganesha and Rahul was waiting for her by a Ganesha temple.

Once they met, they started to laugh. Their laugh was spreading all around. It was so harmonious that sounded like a perfect song. Nobody could say if they are laughing or singing. Astrologists from all over the land came to check this harmony and could not believe their eyes predicting a perfect Kundli match. After three years of laughing and singing, Ganesha, who knows everything told Grete and Rahul, that it’s a good time to get married. “There will be all the obstacles and sacrifices on your way to achieving the blessings of marriage, but if you will marry during this period, Laksmi will be generous and will reward you with her best eight gifts for life – enlightenment, food, knowledge, resources, progeny, abundance, patience, and success,” – Lord Ganesha had made the celestial announcement

Once they started preparing for the wedding, the entire world order changed! An invisible danger was running all over the world, scaring and attacking everyone on its way. People locked in their homes, as if the world stopped rotating. But what ought to happen, will happen. As the legend says, all the Gods were attending the wedding of Grete and Rahul.

The wedding was planned on the auspicious day of October 1st, but all the divine guests showed up a day too early due to their excitement to celebrate this unity. And you never want to make the Gods wait. So the wedding happened on even more auspicious day of September 30th. Lakshmi herself handled all the gifts to the couple, Ganesha was dancing his victory dance and all the Gods were singing together harmonious love song, and nobody could tell for sure was it a laugh or was it a song.

And they lived happily ever after...
